POSTPONED!!!

Hi everyone,
Due to the lack of bookings it has become apparent that we cannot bring you the November Stargate event.
We apologise for the short notice, but unfortunately the enthusiastic response we've been receiving via email, MySpace and the phone hasn't converted to sales.
We hope to reschedule the event for 2008 and will let you know shortly.
In the meantime, for those who have booked and/or paid in advance, please feel free to contact us.
If you have any other questions or concerns, as always, just
email or phone anytime: 02 6241 4555.

Talk with you soon,
Adele & Brian

LINE-UP AND DATE CHANGES

Hello everyone,
Well, there's never a dull moment at BOBW.
We have been waiting to be as sure as one can be with the following information, and so we haven't been able to confirm it any earlier.
OK, so first up...
Unfortunately,
Joe Flanigan will not be able to join us in November as he, and we, had planned. He hopes to be able to be with us in 2008.
We have however been able to secure two other fantastic guests to continue to bring you the excellent value we always try to give you at Best of Borth Worlds events.
We are really pleased to be able to bring to 'baddies' from the
worlds of Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis.
Our good friend
Cliff Simon (Ba'al) will make a welcome return to BOBW and our new friend Andee Frizzell - better know to Atlantis fans as the Wraith Hive Queen.
The second piece of news is about our dates...
Now that Joe is unavilable, we can return to our original event dates of the 9-11 November. We realise that we have had to bounce these dates between two weekends and that may have made booking accommodation and travel for some difficult, for which we apologise.
The Sebel Parramatta has been very patient with us also and has been very good in ensuring that our weekend does not conflict with another event at the hotel.
As always we'll keep you informed as any new info comes to light. If you have any questions or concerns, as always, just
email us or phone anytime: 02 6241 4555.

Talk with you soon,
Adele & Brian

DATE CHANGE

Hello there,
We have been advised that Creation plan a huge event in the U.S. for the weekend of the 16th-18th Nov.
So to avoid the conflict for guests and attendees, we have decided to return our event to the weekend of the
9th, 10th & 11th November 2007. The conflicting booking with the hotel was moved, so we are free to return to the Sebel at that time.
These are now the firm dates for our BOBW event, so you can now start looking at your travel arrangements!
Please let all your friends know, as with the loss of our address book we are concerned that some of our supporters may miss out on what will definitely be an amazing weekend.
On that note, we are now also on “My Space”, so please do add us as a friend, and forward our page to your friends & spread the word!
You can find us at
http://www.myspace.com/bobwcon.
Linked
here is an XL booking form for BOBW28 for anyone who has not booked already, or if you would like to add extra dates or events to your previous booking.
The website for the Sebel Parramatta is
http://www.mirvachotels.com.au/hotel_detail.asp?hotel=40
Alternatively you can call 02 9630 4999 - Sharon Henstock is, fortunately for everyone, still there & still looking after us.
We'll keep you informed as any new info comes to light.
If you have any questions, as always, just
email us.

Adele & Brian

REVISED DATES

Hello there,

The Sebel has informed us of a pre-booked function that we feel will conflict with the event we intend to hold and create some logisticaal problems.

We have therefore decided to move our event to the weekend of the 16th to 18th of November 2007 in order for all of us to have the best time.

Sorry for the change of dates after our announcement just a few days ago, but we felt it best under the circumstances.

We'll keep you informed as any new info comes to light.
If you have any questions, as always, just
email us.

Talk with you soon,
Adele & Brian

POSTPONED - To be rescheduled

Hello there,

Well the numbers do not allow us to continue with BOBW 28, so we will re-schedule, we are waiting for firm dates so we may announce them.

We are very happy to be able to tell you that all our guests are happy to re-schedule and understand our position perfectly.

Once we know the dates, you will be able to :

1) Transfer your booking to the re-scheduled event;

2) Or obtain a refund of the monies paid;
a) payments made by money order, cheque or cash will be fully refunded,
b) payments made by credit card incur a bank charge (I have to check with Brian, but do know it is under 5%), so credit card payments will be credited back less the bank charge.

In the meantime we hope you will help us increase the numbers by 'promoting' our event.

Thank you for your support, it is very much appreciated.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Talk with you soon,
Adele & Brian

CRUNCH TIME

Hello there,
Well it is crunch time. We are less than 4 weeks away from BOBW 28, at this stage we need more bookings to allow us to proceed with the planned event.

We have been forced into a decision to decrease the lineup, to help us ensure that we can still run an event with our headline guest from Stargate Atlantis.

Joe Flanigan is definitely joining us, as is Sonny Whitelaw.
However the bookings are still not enough, so if you do want to come and have a great time let us know ASAP, otherwise we will have no option but to rethink the event.

Anyon who knows us at BOBW will realise that we are making this decision very reluctantly and with a very heavy heart, but unfortunately this is the situation, and the reality.

Please do not let rumour mongers prevent you from meeting our great guests, we have over the past 10 years brought you a superb array of talent, despite other people regularly saying such 'n' such an actor is not coming - not true they have come and had such a grand time that they have gone back to their sets and told their friends to come to BOBW.

Thank you for your support over the past 10 years.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Adele & Brian

IT'S GETTING CLOSE

Hello there,
There are only a few weeks now until the next BOBW event.

With the Christmas and New Year breaks coming up we know that everyone will be very busy. However, we still want to encourage those of you who are thinking of coming to register your interest and place your booking.

It is obviously very important that we get the final numbers right to ensure that we can hold a successful event.

Please get in contact with us as soon as you can. Leave a message anytime via email or phone (02) 6241 4555.

Stay in touch.

Teryl is a good friend to BOBW and is always such a fun and fantastic guest. Peter we haven't seen for such a long time at BOBW and we really look forward to catching up with him.

Teryl and Peter, along with Joe, Rick and Sonny definitely makes our latest BOBW event one worth catching...

...THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES.

Stay in touch,

REUNION CHANGES

Hello there,
I am home from hospital, must say a partially collapsed lung on top of a cracked clavicle & a terrible cough was not fun!

Following BOBW 26 last November, the response was such that we sent out a questionnaire - 'Should BOBW continue?'

268 fans emphatically said "Yes", however of these, less than 1% followed their response by booking!

At this stage we have 34 people booked for Saturday and 23 for Sunday, most of the Sunday people will be there on Saturday as well.

These sort of low attendee numbers make it difficult to cover the level of commitment we have to our guests.

As a result, and after speaking with each of them, Tony Amendola, Dan Shea and Douglas Arthurs will now not be able to join us.

Our line up, therefore will be:

Jason Momoa Ronon Dex
Cliff Simon Ba’al
Dan Payne Kull Warrior on SG-1
Wraith Warrior
Lt. Reed on Atlantis
James Bamford Stunts, Actor
Second Unit Director
Assistant Director
stunts coord (Atlantis)
Ivy Isenberg Casting on SG-1 and Atlantis
Sonny Whitelaw Official MGM author of Stargate novels

The Reunion program is also changed:
Friday July 14th: 2 workshops
Ivy will be conducting an acting workshop, and Sonny a writer's workshop
Friday evening: Cocktail Party
Saturday July 15th: Guest talks, photos, autographs
Saturday evening: Banquet
Sunday July 16th: Guest talks, photos and autographs
Sunday evening: Wrap Party

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!
Now is the time to show your support, we have wonderful things happening next year, but we need you to really show your support, be there with us at least for one day of the Reunion.

Contact us now! email or phone: 02 6241 4555

Tickets start at $199.00 per person per day!

We hope to see you all there.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS - THE REUNION

Hi Everyone.
Well, as you can see from the home page, yes, we are indeed holding a Best of Both Worlds event this year.

The response by so many of you following our Nov.'05 convention was so overwhelming that we just had to arrange this little (huge!) Reunion event.

As you can see, we have a great line-up of guests from Stargate SG1 and Atlantis to share our weekend with.

Not only can we enjoy their company at our social events, but they have planned for us some fantastic workshops (which have become very popular activities) and even more entertainment during their on-stage appearances. And yes, there are autograph sessions!

We can't wait to see you all again.

Bookings for The Reunion have already opened, so get in fast to avoid missing out on some of our new ticket offers. We have provided a wider range of options than any other similar events so that everyone can come along and join our BOBW family.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Adele & Brian

RUMOURS

Hi Everyone.
What a fantastic convention!
What an absolutely great line up!!
And what an overwhelming response from the fans!!!

Thankyou to everyone who made this convention such a blast.

Sadly, there was a sour note. Even before the convention started, there were rumours flying around.

We'd just like to put a few things straight...

Rumour 1) That we had declared or were about to declare bankruptcy.
False. NO WAY! Rest assured that we have never and will never be in such a position.

Rumour 2) That the convention was going to have less than 45 attendees.
False. As anyone who was at the convention can tell you, we had over 200 attendees across the weekend.

Rumour 3) That ALL the guests had pulled out.
False. Other than for Colin and Gary who ended up with other work commitments - which we announced as soon as we could confirm it (see News updates below) - ALL of our announced guests were at the convention.

Rumour 4) That guests had not been paid for their appearances.
False. While we will never go into the details of our arrangements with the guests, rest assured that all contracts and our commitments with them were satisfied in full.
_ _ _ _ _ _

There were other things said of course, many of them personal attacks. I think that as this 'News' page demonstrates, we have always been upfront with our attendees, and we remain dismayed that there are some out there who want to tear us down by spreading this sort of nonsense.

We just prove them wrong of course by putting on great conventions with fantastic guests. Eight years and twenty-five conventions is testimony to all that.

FINAL BOBW - UPDATE #4
GARY JONES

Hi All,
No one said our last convention would be easy. Unfortunately, our great guests are also great actors and acting comes first.

Sadly, Gary Jones has let us know that he will be unable to attend BOBW26 due to work commitments.

ALL of our other guests are ready to catch their flights however, and we are looking forward to really enjoying a fantastic weekend.

Please remember that we are only a few days out from the convention, so if you haven't done so already, book now!

FINAL BOBW - UPDATE #3
COLIN CUNNINGHAM

Hi All,

Sorry to say that we have had the following email exchange with our good friend Colin Cunningham.

Subject: Re: Con
(with permission from Colin, he wrote:)
From: colincunningham
To: alc@bobw.com.au

> " I was just recently told that I'll be playing on DaVincis Inquest all the way through to December.
> So sorry Adele. But it does NOT look like it's going to be possible.
> I just booked yet another tv show called Reunion, and that pretty much synched it.
> Hope the con goes brilliantly. I was really looking forward to it.
> All my best to everyone."
> C.

Adele's reply:
> Hello Colin,
> I am very happy to hear you are getting lots of work, but sad you will not be with us at BOBW 26, we can always hope for miracles...

Colin wrote:
> Sounds great Adele.
> And again, my apologies. Would have been a blast.
> C.

So, Colin can't make BOBW26, but the rest of our guests are currently on track. It's looking like it going to be a great convention.

Please remember that we are only a few weeks out from the convention now, so if you haven't done so already, book now!

FINAL BOBW - UPDATE #2
WRITER'S WORKSHOP

Hello there,
Here is some more information from Sonny about the plans for the writer's workshop.
Talk with you soon,
Adele & Brian

FROM SONNY WHITELAW

"Well, I fell like we’re coming to the end of an era. Like all great finales, this extended BOBW convention weekend in November is shaping up to be the party of the decade. Okay, so maybe a convention isn’t supposed to be called a party, but personally, that’s the way I’ve felt about them since Adele, bless her heart, adopted me into her amazing, extended SF family several years ago. I’m certainly hoping this wonderful weekend will turn out to be the biggest bash of them all.

I’ve met some truly fantastic people at BOBW conventions over the years. Many have become personal friends, and it will be great to catch up in Sydney. I’m also looking forward to meeting a whole new batch of enthusiastic Stargate fans as we continue on into a ninth SG-1 season, and the wonderful spin-off series, Stargate Atlantis.

From a personal point of view, one of the greatest kicks I get out of writing is sharing what I’ve learned. Too many gifted writers never become published because they don’t understand how to package a story into a book, or how the whole editing and publishing process works. Consequently, I’m very much looking forward to holding the writer’s workshop on Friday 11th November.

Part of the workshop will involve the (optional) submission of participants’ work for constructive critique. We’re aiming to have these critiques returned to all workshop attendees prior to Friday 11th November. Since I’d like to dedicate as much time as possible to each submission, please try not to leave booking until midnight Thursday 10th! Anyone interested in attending the workshop can ask Adele at BOBW for the submission requirements. Alternatively, you can download it as a PDF document from
here or direct from WebSpin.

Finally, one way or another we intend to have a very limited number of copies of Stargate SG-1? CCity of th of the Gods, The Rhesus Factor and Ark Ship available for purchase at the convention. Yes, I will be signing them, and hopefully (fingers crossed!) making an announcement about forthcoming Stargate books.

FINAL BOBW - UPDATE #1
NEW VENUE ANNOUNCED

Hi there,
OK here is the good news at long last:

The venue is : The Carlton Hotel - 350 Church Street, Parramatta. The Carlton is a 4.5 star venue.
You may like to check it out at:
www.carltonhotels.com.au

So, where do I start? How about with the details on the Friday workshops?

For Friday we offer the following program:
Two workshops, one conducted by Ivy Isenberg & one conducted by Sonny Whitelaw, details are below.

From Ivy Isenberg:
"The nature of my workshop is whatever you want it to be- typically I hold cold reading workshops for people who are trying to better their actings skills and we hold mock auditions and I give feedback and redirection - If you would prefer it to more of a lecture on how the casting process works I could do that too - or a healthy
mix of both. I'll also bring fun Stargate knick-knacks to give away!"

From Sonny Whitelaw:
"From a personal point of view, one of the greatest kicks I get out of writing is sharing what I’ve learned. Too many gifted writers never become published because they don’t understand how to package a story into a book, or how the whole editing and publishing process works. Consequently, I’m very much looking forward to holding the writer’s workshop on Friday 11th November.

Beef & Mushroom Pies

BOBW 25 & 26 GUEST UPDATES

BOBW 24 CANCELLATION
Hello,
For all of you who have booked for BOBW 24 - Stargate SG1, or indicated your intention to do so, we felt you should be given notice as soon as possible.

Unfortunately we have struck trouble with our planned April event.

As we believe in honesty, we must tell you that at this stage, we have only 43 people booked for Saturday and 34 booked for Sunday.

We truly cannot believe it!

We have spoken at length with Ch7 and the Prime Network in an all out effort to get some additional publicity, a voice-over at the beginning and at the end of the show would have been great. However, at this stage it is not feasible.

Although we really want to definitely proceed, with the numbers on hand, we have no choice but to cancel the event.

We are offering booked-paid attendees the following:

OPTION 1
Transfer to any other BOBW 2005 event, with the following bonus:
As the planned August & November events are slightly dearer -
a) after 3 years of holding the cost of cocktail / banquet and wrap parties, we have had to increase each by a small amount; and
b) with such a huge line up the event itself is costing more to set up.

If you have paid for a VIP place you will have a VIP place in Aug. or Nov. at no additional cost. The same holds for Gold or Basic places. This also applies to cocktail / banquet & wrap party places.

OPTION 2
A refund of the monies paid for BOBW 24

We hope you understand our decision to cancel the event. Unfortunately, we cannot proceed under the current circumstances.

If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.

Regards,
Adele & Brian Carr

THAT 'WINNING' FEELING
One of our supporters has forwarded the following to me, and as David Winning is joining us in April and will be conducting a workshop I thought you would all be interested.

'Childhood's End' Wins Director's Award
Stargate Atlantis director David Winning was awarded the 2005 Bronze WorldMedal in the New York Festival's 2005 International Television Awards, for his work on the Season One episode "Childhood's End." The 48-year-old annual awards recognise excellence in news, documentary, information and entertainment programming, and other categories.

It is the first episode in the Stargate franchise to be helmed by Winning, a veteran director of such series as Andromeda, Dinotopia, and Earth: Final Conflict.

Written by Martin Gero, "Childhood's End" tells the story of a village of children who believe the life-sucking Wraith are kept away by their ritual of committing suicide upon reaching the age of 25. The episode premiered on The SCI FI Channel in August, 2004.

Keep coming back for updates. Don't listen to rumours, the truth will be unveiled exclusively on the BOBW website soon (or keep in touch with developments via email - click here for details).

WORKSHOP'S UPDATE
FROM ADELE: With all the changes that have taken place with this event, I thought it best to state the current position re: the workshops:

1) Thomas Robins will not be here in time to conduct a workshop on the Thursday. I am glad to say that he has offered to conduct one on Monday morning.
There will not be an extra charge - for the people booked in for Thursday - for this additional workshop.

2) David Weatherley will conduct an acting workshop on Thursday am, this will then be followed by the BBQ lunch.

After lunch: Brett Beattie & Andy Stehlin will conduct the theatrical combat workshop, and a 28 minute film produced & starring the LOTR stunt team will be shown here as well.

3) Daniel Falconer & Mike Grealish will conduct the Friday workshops, again the BBQ lunch is included.

4) Thomas Robins will conduct a directing/writing/acting workshop on Monday am. If you wish to attend & would like the BBQ lunch please advise, we will get Rydges to cost it and advise the cost of the lunch.

Peter Fallon, our professional photographer will be available if anyone wants to purchase a photo with the guests.

A COMPLETE UPDATE
FROM ADELE: "OK so now I really feel as though I live in a revolving door, we have more changes and an update":

1) We have received the following e-mail from Peter Lyon:

Hello Adele,
Sorry about not getting back to you sooner, I have been awaiting some news on a minor operation I am getting done. Unfortunately it has had to be rescheduled, and the recovery period will conflict with BOBW23. As much as I would like to be able to attend, it seems more prudent to pass up the opportunity this time. However, if you have another LOTR event in the future and would like me to attend, I would be happy to be contacted again.
Best wishes for the success of your event,
Cheers
Peter Lyon

2) From Richard Taylor's PA:

"I spoke with Richard last night and he has suggested that Mike Grealish attend instead of Peter Lyons.
Thousands of New Zealanders have worked on the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and for many it has been the beginning of a new career.
Mike Grealish is a leather craftsman just like his father and his grandfather - a proud tradition that was almost lost six years ago.
Mike has also been cast as Erkenbrand in the Weta 'book cards' being created for The Lord of the Rings TCG."

3) We must consider that John Howe and his wife will not be able to join s for November. Simply we have not been able to get a response from the Australian Embassy in Berlin re VISAs for John and his wife.

4) From Thomas Robins:

"I have been cast in a new comedy show here in New Zealand. BUT I DON'T WANT TO LET YOU DOWN AT ALL ADELE...Now I'm not sure if this is of any help to you but...I have contacted the production company of the
show and they have agreed to release me lunchtime Friday the 19th of Nov, this would enable me just enough time to catch the last Flight to Auckland and then out to Canberra - arriving early evening 7:45pm (I think) friday night, just in time for a cocktail at your party. I could then be at your show for the weekend.
I know this means that my workshop wouldn't happen on Thursday but I would still be very happy to run it sometime Saturday or Sunday (or even early Monday) if that would help.
I would then fly back Monday as I am required for shooting Tuesday."

Needless to say we have accepted Thomas' kind suggestion, so he will be here with us from Friday night.

Please let me know if you would beinterested in doing the workshop on Monday morning.

LINE-UP CHANGES
The countdown has well and truly started for BOBW23 - LOTR, and as it can happen when dealing within the entertainment industry changes do happen, so here we go:

1) We are very pleased to be able to announce the inclusion of Paul Norell aka The King of the Dead in our line-up. Paul was also a regular on XENA and HERCULES as FALAFEL. Paul's wife Irene Drake was the casting director on Hercules & Xena and would be happy to talk about these shows with the fans.

2) I have received the following e-mail from Bruce Hopkins:

"I have been approached by the Auckland Theatre company asking me to play a lead role in their end of year musical " A Christmas Carol". The show opens for a month on Nov. 11. Therefore I have to pull out of BOBW. I am sorry this has happened as I was looking forward to being there. I have to sing and that is a challenge I have wanted to face for years. So maybe next year we can work together." Bruce

Although we will definitely miss Bruce in November. I am sure you will join us in wishing him a huge success.
